SPECIAL TO THE PVT
The hot temperatures in Pahrump didn’t seem to be affecting the hockey players very much because all four teams were eager to play Thursday night at the Pahrump Event Center.
Game one between the Pahrump Thunder and the Pahrump Sharks started off the night’s action. The sharks took a bite out of Team Thunder quickly with a goal by Bill Vaughan just minutes into the game.
However, it was the Thunder with the biggest bang, scoring six goals by the half.
Going into the second half, the Sharks knew they had their work cut out for them.
The second half proved to be a very exciting and evenly paced match, but it would be all the goals from the first half that would take a toll on the Sharks.
By the final whistle, the Pahrump Thunder had secured their first win of the summer season with a final score of 8 to 5. Mike Kramer of the Thunder scored a solid four goals in the game.
In game two between the Kings and the Penguins, it seemed as if the Kings were taking notes from the Thunder in game one.
Like the Thunder, the Kings were on it in the first half of the game, also scoring six goals by the midway point.
The Penguins, who struggled hard through the first half, boosted their defense enough to cut the scoring in half for the second period but just couldn’t get enough goals themselves to get back in the game.
The Kings were able to hold onto the lead for a 9-5 win and win number two for the Kings in the Thursday league summer series. The win would secure the Kings the top spot in the standings.
Congrats to Adam Witten of the Kings and Brandon Van Buytene of the Penguins for each scoring a hat trick in the Thursday night game.
