Football

Pahrump Valley has its last pre-school opening workout today 3-5:30 p.m. . Saturday, it’s Picture Day at 7 a.m., with an intrasquad scrimmage scheduled for 9 a.m.

In games involving Sunset Region Southwest Class 4-A football teams tonight, it’s Durango at Del Sol, Legacy at Spring Valley, Desert Oasis at Valley, Foothill at Bonanza, Clark at Centennial and Sierra Vista at Shadow Ridge. Saturday, Del Oro, Calif., is at Bishop Gorman, which lost its opener, 24-17 to Hamilton, Ariz., last Saturday. All games start at 7.

Coach Leo Verzilli’s team opens the regular season Sept. 3 at home against Southern Nevada Class 2-A League member Las Vegas Mountain View Christian 7 p.m. . The first day of classes is Monday.

Girls golf

Pahrump Valley opens Southwest 4-A Division action Thursday at Canyon Gate, with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Julie Floyd is back for her 19th season with the Lady Trojans.

Soccer

Both Pahrump Valley teams are in tournaments at Mesquite today and Saturday. Brad Green coaches the boys, with Greg Leseberg directing the girls.

9:30 a.m. — Pahrump Valley boys vs. Las Vegas Arbor View, Field 3

Other boys games today are at 7 and 8:30 p.m.

8 a.m. — Pahrump Valley girls vs. Virgin Valley JVs, Field 2

9 a.m. — Pahrump Valley JV girls vs. Moapa Valley JVs, Upper Field

8:30 p.m. — Pahrump Valley girls vs. Virgin Valley, Field 2

Games Saturday are at 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

Elsewhere today in boys soccer, it’s Vo-Tech at Clark and Eldorado at Spring Valley.

Volleyball

Pahrump Valley is in the Las Vegas Invitational today and Saturday, with the Lady Trojans playing their games at Green Valley High School in Henderson.

Coach Jill Harris’s PV girls will play Golden Valley, Calif., at 1:30 p.m., The Meadows at 3:30 p.m. and Green Valley at 6:30 p.m.

At 8:30 a.m. Saturday, PV will take on Canyon View, Utah. The tournament will continue throughout the day in various flights determined by win-loss records.

Most Southwest 4-A teams are in this tournament.

Cross country

Pahrump Valley, coached by Andy Andersen, is at home Wednesday, with a meet beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the Lakeview Executive Golf course.
