John “Len” Mendenhall, passed away Aug. 10, 2010, at home in Thatcher, Ariz.
He was born Nov. 1, 1933, in Vancouver, Wash.
Len retired from the Navy after serving 20 years as a Navy photographer.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 32; a member of the Moose Lodge here; and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association in Poway, Calif.
Len was a life-long learner, always interested in learning about new things and loved to travel and explore new places.
He enjoyed the outdoors and had a passion for sports. He was especially dedicated to the San Diego Chargers and the San Diego Padres.
Len is survived by his wife of 29 years Wanda Mendenhall of Thatcher; Daughters Patty Tim Torres of San Marcos, Calif., Terri Mendenhall of Los Angeles, Calif., and Judy Akers of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; son Mike Mendenhall of Bethel Ark; stepsons Randy Siler of Phoenix, Ariz., and Danny Shari Siler of Sunsites, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; sister Carol Mason of Lake Tahoe, Calif; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Elizabeth Mendenhall and brother Ken Mendenhall.
Len was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
The family wishes donations be made to Mt. Graham Hospice in lieu of flowers.. 08/10/2010
