Two charged with murder after fatal home invasion

Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo and Det. Eric Murphy on Monday filled in details surrounding the July 15 shooting death on West Street that was originally described as an attempted home invasion.

The dead man was identified as Devine Robinson of Pahrump.

Two other Pahrump residents, Clinton Snider, 22, and Richard McFadden, 19, were involved in a twisted plot that DeMeo declined to elaborate upon at this point in the ongoing investigation, except to say that McFadden befriended Robinson at the request of Snider.

“McFadden conspired to commit a home invasion with Robinson,” said DeMeo.

Reportedly, McFadden then notified Snider about the arrangement, and when Robinson arrived at Snider’s home, McFadden was already there. The sheriff said no call was made to the NCSO for assistance, even though it was known Robinson was on his way to Snider’s home.

Snider and McFadden are charged with murder, conspiracy and obstructing a peace officer. They are both in custody.

The night of the murder, Snider called the sheriff’s office about 10:50 p.m., to report a home invasion in progress. He said the invader had been shot. Robinson was already dead when officers arrived at the scene.

DeMeo said there were discrepancies in subsequent interviews by the street crime deputies and detectives that “left a lot of questions. The home-owner alleged he had been sitting at home when Robinson broke in.”

It was learned that Robinson was shot about 30 minutes before Snider called the sheriff’s office. It was also discovered that McFadden was present during the shooting and fled the scene before officers arrived.

DeMeo said McFadden disposed of evidence in an effort to avoid prosecution. However, he was arrested and is being held in Nye County Detention Center, without bail.

Snider fled to California and is in custody of the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office without bail, awaiting extradition to Pahrump.

DeMeo said his office used various technologies to locate Snider and informed San Bernardino officials of his whereabouts.

“Homeowners in this state have the right to defend themselves and to protect their lives and homes,” said DeMeo. “But there was something about this case in the initial investigation that didn’t add up. In my opinion, it did not seem to be a straight-out home invasion.”

Aspects of the case are still being investigated.

Thank god the sherif used his head. I know this kid, and he was nothing but trouble. He should be locked up for life, and same with the other. People like this have no respect for life, and their for have no need to be in normal society. And this is all comeing from an 18 year old young man, so I sincerliy hope they lock him up for life.

Maybe if the Nye County Sheriff’s Office had a New Leader, the County Commissioners would give the Officers the Respect they Deserve.

“Various Technologies,” Please. How about letting your Deputies use Face Book and Myspace while on Duty. That is the Simplist Technology of All. Just the Pictures of the People using illegal substances are enough to get a warrant, unleash your Officer’s and let them do their job.
