The Deputies here in Pahrump put their lives on the line for $20.00 an hour what a joke that’s damn near the poverty level they are not paid enough for what they do you think that is why they are short of help damn right. And some folks who work for the town get paid so very well and there is many that do not rate that kind of revenue.Why would someone want to be in law inforcement for 20.00 an hour and insurance (Health) how can anyone afford that @ 20.00 and to put their life up front like that I don’t think so.

Try $745/month for insurance. Thats right…$745 every month just for insurance. That is roughly 1/4 of a month’s salary, or half of a paycheck paycheck for a street deputy.

My wife and I travel to other areas and States … We see junk cars , boats , R. V. ‘s etc in front yards , or all over different properties..

As a Building Official for several CA. cities over the course of 20 + years I managed several Code Enforcment Sections , ( and performed the function myself in smaller Cities )Proper Code Enforcfemen REQUIRES the support of Admin. , and City Council ( S )

WANT TO FIX IT ???

First violation : VERBAL WARNING + I month to remedy .
Second violation : Written DEMAND + 2 weeks to comply .
Third violation : Written DEMAND with notation that if correction not COMPLETED , a reQuest for prosecution unde Laws ,Ordinances ,etc . + one ( 1 ) week reinspection.
REINSPECTION : AND IF NO COMPLIANCE >>>REQUEST PROSECUTION WITH WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION OF ALL ACTIONS AND RESPONSES .

THIS CAN BE DONE HERE /..IF the Township and County WANT TO CLEAN UP THE MESS THAT IS PAHRUMP .

Thank you PahrumpResident. I agree with what you said. They make $20 an hour, officers that have been officers for 6 years still make $20 an hour. They pay something like $400+ for medical benefits for their families, when they only make $20 an hour. My husband wanted to be a deputy when we moved here, but can’t leave his current job if they should hire him for the fact we cant pay our bills,and have health insurance for our children at that $20 an hour. They are out there on Christmas, and Thanksgiving, many having to give up time with their families, to help watch over our town. There are some nights we have a total of 2 deputies out patroling our town. So what happens if one needs back up, and the other is out at an equally important of a call? SOL people. If you have a problem with the deputies that means you probably are one of Pahrump’s finest residents, and have been caught doing something you weren’t supposed to. I have had the pleasure of meeting some of our deputies, detectives, and our Mr. Demeo and have found them to be hard working, caring people, they stay working for our town because they love living here. Pahrump is loosing and will loose good deputies, if they don’t get a contract. Any other union would strike after two years.

So true… the NCSO positions don’t warrent the over $100K salaries they are receiving. Neither does the Fire Chief who makes a pretty tidy sum as well. Incorporate so the funding will be there, the “city” will grow and support those salaries. The deputies on the street do more, protecting and servicing the community. Give them more money but taking some out of the lined pockets of the politically driven folks like Sheriff DeMeo.
